Composer Alex Greene (Reigning Sound, Big Ass Truck) interprets a wide variety of Memphis music on this instrumental soundtrack album out courtesy of French label Bang Records. It captures the slow, sultry Memphis vibe, through an excellent arrangement of subtle guitar work and Ellington-esque horn arrangements. “Speak Easy Serenade” is an easy way to imagine the Bluff City in the 1920s — and yet, its sound is current, refreshing, and mysterious.
