Description
Luther Dickinson (The North Mississippi Allstars) collects twenty-one songs from his life and career, written shortly after the death of his father, producer Jim Dickinson (Big Star, the Replacements, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan). Hearkening an old, bluesy-rock sound, the album is an ambitious delight. Mavis Staples accompanies Dickinson on “Ain’t No Grave,” a beautifully arranged duet that acknowledges the inevitability of death and mourning, but also hope.
